Come up for air, Snack Attack
Homer came up for air and got out of the pool. He wanted something salty and crunchy to eat. He moved Moose's bucket into the shade of the outside porch and walked into the kitchen dripping on the cold tile floor. He found the bucket of cheeseballs, his hand descending like the mechanism on a claw machine.
His mother tapped her foot in the doorway,"If you eat all that junk you're not going to enjoy Kelsey's birthday."
"Like I would eat anything at that Lobster dungeon."
"You like the cheese biscuits."
"I like cheese, period. I would eat a whole block of it if you'd let me."
"You have to go. She's our neighbor."
"I don't want to go."
"What will it take for you to go?"

Homer Dreams of Lobster
The Story Begins...
The Houston heat wraps Homer in a blanket as he walks into the backyard. If he wasn’t in a swimsuit he would be sweating now. His pet lobster’s antennae tickle him as he places it in the clear plastic water bucket beside the pool. He pets Moose’s hard shell body before he dives in.
Even though he’s wearing goggles he tries not to look at his feet. He worries his ankles might be growing. That they would pull him down to the bottom, and he wouldn’t be able to come back up. Every kick of his legs is a relief. And his mother wonders why he refuses to wear shoes. Even a little weight on his feet might cause his ankles to grow larger and fuse with his calf.
Homer hopes, if he’s lucky, he will be so wet and tired from the swimming that his mom won’t make him go to his evil neighbor’s birthday party at Red Lobster. She had to choose it on purpose. She always eyes Moose so hungrily when they go for walks outside. She asks Homer to come over and offers him a glass of lemonade that looks suspiciously like melted, clarified butter. Moose knows and scuttles the other way in his bucket when he sees her.
